COURT DISMISSES INEC
A Federal High Court sitting
in Warri, Delta State, has clearly dismissed an application for stay of
execution by the Independent Electoral Commission,
(INEC), against the
judgment of the court, the judgement of the court ordered the restoration of Isoko North 1 and Ughelli South 1constituencies.
The application which was dismissed without cost of trial judge, Justice Shitu
Abubakar, said that the commission had no point to delay the
implementation of the court’s judgment
The court, in its judgment on October 31, 2014, ordered INEC to
restore forthwith, the two state constituencies which were suppressed by
the commission in 1998
The matter was adjoined till February 10, for hearing in the contempt
proceedings initiated against the commission’s chairman, Prof Attahiru
Jega.
